Agreement
By installing or using PocketFi, you agree to these terms. They cover the app, the website, and any feature you can reach with your Google account. If you don't agree, please don't use the app — but no hard feelings.
Your license to use the app
The PocketFi app binary on Google Play is free for personal, non-commercial use. We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use it on devices you own.
The PocketFi source code is licensed under the MIT License — see the LICENSE file on GitHub. You may fork, modify, and redistribute it under those terms.
Your account
- You sign in with Google. You're responsible for keeping that Google account secure.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use PocketFi.
- One human, one account. Don't sign in as someone else.
Your content
The transactions, notes, receipts, and other entries you put into PocketFi are yours. We don't claim ownership of any of it.
By using the app, you grant PocketFi a limited license to store, display, and sync your content for the purpose of operating the service for you (and members of any shared wallet you've added).
Acceptable use
Don't use PocketFi to:
- Store anyone else's financial data without their consent.
- Upload images of other people's documents (IDs, passports, third-party receipts) without permission.
- Reverse-engineer the hosted backend, scrape Firestore, or attempt to access another user's data.
- Abuse, harass, or harm members of any shared wallet.
- Anything illegal under Malaysian law or the law of where you live.
We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
Open source & forks
You're welcome — encouraged, even — to fork PocketFi, run your own Firebase backend, and ship your own variant. The MIT license is your friend. A few notes:
- Forks must keep the MIT license and copyright notice.
- Forks should not call themselves "PocketFi" — pick your own name to avoid confusing users.
- Forks are entirely your responsibility; we don't operate them, support them, or warrant them.
Disclaimer
PocketFi is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. It is a personal budget tracker, not a regulated financial product. We don't give financial advice, don't certify your tax filings, and aren't responsible for whether you actually meet your savings goals.
Receipts scanned via OCR may be incorrect. Always double-check important amounts before relying on them.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainers of PocketFi will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app — including loss of data, lost profits, or lost ringgit.
Our total liability for any direct damages is capped at MYR 100 (the rough cost of a nice dinner).
Termination
You can delete your account any time (see Privacy → Delete your data). We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice unless the violation is severe.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute will be brought before the courts of Kuala Lumpur — though we'd much rather resolve it over an email.
